Behind the Scenes of Burnout Paradise Remastered Superior Graphics

EA and Burnout Paradise credits

It’s been more than half a year since, after ten years of waiting, the much-loved racing game Burnout Paradise returns with a revamp that makes gamers feel as if they are in the best Fast and Furious movie ever made! The game is back to a new generation of consoles and ready to show off the true definition of a “smash hit,” now in 1080p on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and in 4K at 60fps on the PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X. Electronic Arts, Inc. and Stellar Entertainment gave Burnout Paradise Remastered a complete graphics overhaul, with high-resolution textures and a range of technical enhancements designed to deliver all the high-speed chaos with the bold and breathtaking level of visual fidelity.

Most noticeable is the artwork: core assets are now of a significantly higher resolution, with ground art and building textures the most obvious beneficiaries. As part of this Burnout Paradise Remastered collaboration, Room 8 Studio and Electronic Arts, Inc. worked on different graphics enhancements like car scratch textures, environment elements, sat-nav map, car icons, driver’s licenses, and other UI elements. A bulk of the art was retouched, right down to the traffic lights, to deliver a next-generation players’ engagement. Room 8 Studio professionals are inspired to contribute to such a legendary title to provide the best possible quality to Burnout Paradise Remastered – the game fans worldwide have been waiting for since 2008.

Burnout Paradise Remastered feels incredibly good to drive; the enhanced resolution and frame rate bring it to modern standards. I found its open-world structure exciting and engaging! Exploring the good old world is a fantastic feeling! Our entire team is proud of this partnership, and we would like to thank Electronic Arts, Inc. for providing us with the opportunity and hope to join forces in the future again. Aside from art production, based on our experience of bringing games to Nintendo Switch, I believe that the title has a huge potential on this platform if that would be an interest. Considering technical requirements, it would be a perfect match. No obstacles at all; fans would be super happy!”, – commented Gleb Platonov, Head of Games at Room 8 Studio.
