RECAP: CASUAL CONNECT 2017
It feels just like yesterday when Room 8 Studio won the Indie Prize for Riot Runners in Kyiv in 2013. Now Casual Connect is back in Kyiv, and we are more than happy to welcome them back.
In 2017 our reps were on stage again, this time as speakers. Gleb Platonov and Eric Simonich took part in three discussion panels on some of the most intriguing questions in the game development industry.
The State of the Ukrainian Game Dev Industry panel went off with why businesses should go to Ukraine for IT talent, effectively use the potential, the cultural environment, and what kind of challenges they are going to face. Eric Simonich shared the challenges he is facing during recruitment and how to deal with them. At the “Ukraine’s Hotbed of Talent (And How To Use It)” panel, Gleb Platonov shared his experience of managing distributed multinational teams and creating efficient Dedicated Development Teams for the partners and the apparent benefits of this business model.
The discussion continued long after the timing was over at the Casual Connect Official Speaker Dinner sponsored by Room 8 Studio. An incredible view of old Kyiv and delicious appetizers with fine drinks encouraged networking and brightened up the evening in the company of the most seasoned industry experts!
